I've been dismissive of the concept of folding phones in general, but I'm suddenly feeling nostalgic for the Nokia 9000 (which incidentally would cost $1600 in 2025 dollars)

It just occurred to me that Chuck Schumer's imaginary constituents, "the Baileys," were supposed to be 45 years old when he invented them in 1998, so they'd be 72 now

There are only 2 kinds of fall days:

Days when the kids have to stay home because school / day care is closed

Days when the kids have to stay home because they caught some virus at school / day care

Just thinking about when the "MS" in MSNBC stood for "Microsoft" and they'd have shows to teach people how to use the internet...

(Credit to @leolaporte.me for roasting Microsoft in the first episode)

It's funny to me that MSNBC had to drop the "NBC" from its name immediately after being spun off from Comcast, but they kept the "MS" when they haven't been associated with Microsoft for 13 years

Maybe I'm too cynical, but I think Panera will make a lot of noise about improving the level of quality, value, and service, and as soon as they see customers start to come back, quietly go back to cutting all of those

I thought I'd save a few bucks making pizza at home tonight, so five minutes after I went into the kitchen, the kids smashed a ~$300(?) floor lamp in the living room. While I was cleaning up the broken glass, I ordered pizza 🫠

Dug the "Vote" sweatshirt out of the drawer where I had stuffed it, unwashed

Brushed away the dust and peeled the "I Voted" sticker

Pulled it over my head and did my best to smooth out the wrinkles

And headed to the polls to see if this old democracy still has some life left in her.

When I was in elementary school, I had a little pocket computer (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharp_P...) and I programmed it in BASIC so that you could ask it a question and it would randomly respond "yes" or "no."

I didn't realize I was ahead of my time.
