I'd love for Exo to proactively communicate the date at which they will start running the Mascouche train to the REM transfer station at Côte-de-Liesse 🙃
But I do agree that Laurentides buses seem good, even though 708 to Deux-Montagnes is somehow always 15 mins late, even on Sunday with no traffic

Je suis un anglophone qui parle français à la maison, au travail et dans la rue. Dans ma vie quotidienne le seul endroit où je côtoie l'anglais est dans ma propre tête. Mais ce sera jamais assez, pour plusieurs je «dénature le caractère français de la métropole» par le seul fait de mon existence ⚜️

I mean, weren't the old contraflow bus lanes on Pie-IX dismantled and rebuilt as a BRT at great expense because they were too difficult for Montrealers to understand?

I should add that the transfer to the REM will be seamless, indoors and in many cases cross-platform, whereas the "transfer" at Sauvé is a bit of a trek and completely outdoors

In the olden days before covid I used to commute downtown, and taking the train at Sauvé was a bit faster than taking the metro, given the fewer stops and the fact that my destination was close to Central Station.
But more importantly, it was way more comfortable than the metro for the same fare 😎

I live in the neighbourhood and even though I can walk to the orange line in 10 minutes, at certain times of day apps will suggest that taking the frequent 121 bus to the REM is competitive, especially to go to the heart of downtown, i.e. McGill Station. Train to REM will be faster than bus to REM

As it is, people still love it. I took it downtown yesterday afternoon from Deux-Montagnes and regular people were crowded up front at the foamer window the whole time, huge smiles and looks of absolute astonishment

It'll be great once the other branch comes online next year and the off-peak headways on the main trunk get cut down, and when Exo finally gets around to having the Mascouche commuter train terminate at the custom-built REM transfer station at Côte-de-Liesse as it is supposed to.

You gotta hand it to the union. The REM announced the November 17 opening on October 20. Based on precedent we basically knew the open house be on November 15-16.
So on October 23 the union dutifully called a strike that would also take place on November 15-16 and have refused to budge ever since 👏

"…intervention des services d'urgence". There was a study cited in La Presse last year that the Montreal Metro has the most outages caused by its own users in the world. News stories about Metro outages would almost need to be stories about society losing its way. Much easier to moan about the REM
