a couple years ago digital artists were harrassed about doing nfts regardless of whether or not they wanted to but at least that was something tangibly (dis-)proven, with ai everyone's throwing out accusations left and right against small artists struggling to make ends meet

to add to that the only things Portishead have done in the past 5 years were charity shows for Ukraine and Gaza respectively, nothing more honorable than reuniting exclusively for good causes

while not a "reunion" as such since they never officially disbanded, Portishead's Third is a masterpiece and in my opinion their best album, one of the best albums of all time even and pulling that off after a 10 year hiatus while radically changing your sound is such a massive achievement

my music is free and always has been and always will be to any people who want to listen, doesn't mean i'm just gonna give it away to corporations who can't even be bothered to offer me their fucking fractions of a cent worth in royalties

The most basic argument I can give you for ditching Spotify for *anything* is Spotify, uniquely, pays *nothing* for much of the music on the platform. Is there *any* improvement in paying for Spotify over pirating? You're a paper-thin moral slice away from buying music from a bootlegger. Why do it?

to add to this, i remember loving it at the time but also i was 15 and thought the film was deep and profound and i definitely wasn't at the point politically that i am now and still thought that colonizing space would be an honorable undertaking and not a powerplay by megarich assholes

i think part of it is that for many gen z'ers Interstellar was the first or maybe second Nolan they were at an appropriate age for to see it in theaters, for me it was the second after The Dark Knight Rises but also i fucking hate Interstellar now lmao
