What's the big challenge of 2025?

DigitalMakery started well, and I am happy about getting two projects out of the gate. But they were through connections and acquaintances. I now need to prove I can generate projects out of thin air. 2025 is the year of proving that I can STAY freelance full-time.

📗 Fiction: *Rath* by Volker Kutscher. If you've heard of the show "Babylon Berlin," this is the book series behind it, taking the protagonist from 1928 → 1938. This was the tenth and (sadly!) final book in the series.

My favourite reads of 2024:

📘 Non-Fiction: *The Incerto Series* by Nicolas Nassim Taleb. Few books have changed my view of the world this much.

🔧 That helped massively in transitioning from a mixed low-code and full-code stack to a purely full-code stack.
📱 I launched my own little AI Nutrition Tracker app that's pulling in a reliable $300/month.

💼 I pulled in two projects and made $12k in the first three months.
📹 I started YouTube and went from 0 → 450+ subscribers.
🐦 I started on X and went from 0 → 380 followers.
📚 I had to learn a lot quickly, but most importantly, I really learned how to learn.

It's called 'mammoth' and boy does it deliver.

With the HTML you can then easily store the info in a database, display it and make it searchable.

You can find it here: www.npmjs.com/package/mam...

You learn a more broadly applicable skill.

Javascript is the base not just for NextJS, but the most-used language out there. And it helps you leverage AI more and more independently than through what is given you inside another tool.

You don't start from scratch.

NextJS is a framework that provides you with a very solid foundation to start from out of the box. So much so that React recommends it itself.

You save money.

Adding a CMS: free. Adding e-commerce: free. Launching the site: free.

Only when your site gets big do you need to pay for traffic.

You get the "real AI.

The veil of abstraction also blocked AI helpers. They work much better if they directly access your code.

PLUS your interaction becomes much better, because you can challenge them and understand if they mess up.

You are often faster.

Gone is the (necessary) veil of abstraction that keeps you from seeing what is going on.

And if you have your learning hat on, you quickly get to a point where changing things is faster and more direct.
