Blending the old with the new, Metal Gear Solid Delta potentially offers the best way to play Hideo Kojima's stealth-action classic. The Unreal Engine 5 driven visuals are standout, but it's clear that Konami has not optimised for 60fps strictly here; both base PS5 in and PS5 Pro waver between 40-60fps, with drops to 30 possible as well - with Pro hardware often coming out worse in comparison. Mafia: The Old Country delivers some exceptionally impressive visuals on consoles, but it's one of the few games we'd actually recommend running in the 30fps quality mode on PS5, Pro and Xbox Series X. In the calm before the storm of Gamescom 2025, gaming and technology news is thin on the ground - and there's some degree of disappointment beyond the brilliance of the Battlefield 6 open beta. Drag x Drive on Switch 2 underwhelms, AMD releases an RX 9060 that you can't buy - and isn't really that much different to the 9060 XT. Light relief comes in the form of a monstrous modded RTX 4090 "handheld", while OneXPlayer's 120W Strix Halo tablet does - admittedly - look quite intriguing. Bringing together our previous commentaries on Sony's disastrous PS3 E3 showings at its 2005 and 2006 conferences. These have been remastered - the 2006 conference is now using the pristine 1080p version of the event provided by NoClip/Danny O'Dwyer - many thanks! The 2005 conference uses a custom blend of AI upscaling and a smart deinterlace from the original 480i source. In both cases, these are the best quality versions of these events that we could find and are a huge improvement over the original releases in visual terms. Read more

Thanks to a brand new Enhanced Edition we're now able to enjoy Hellblade 2 at 60fps on console - addressing a criticism of the original release. This upgrade lands on Xbox Series X, and also coincides with the game's debut for PS5 consoles - where PS5 Pro in particular stands out for its offering of two upscaling modes.
