It reads as a 50% ownership stake in the minerals to the US, which only works if ukraine survives, the infra is rebuilt and minerals make it to market. So large financial incentive to the US or zero if ukraine falls. Not a good deal but not terrify either

The likely alternative for the US and ukraine is US support just ends. Would be ideal if EU takes charge but ukraine will need to hedge. I think they take a deal now and rip it up if the weapons don't come through or just renegotiate after the war

A lot of people complaining about this with zero better options. If Ukraine gets a better deal it will because Europe steps up to fill the arms gap. The US had the chance to make an ethically better choice on Nov 5th and failed so Ukraine has to deal with reality as it is, not how they want
