Honestly JapanesePod has some good beginner videos you can learn from ! They especially helped me learn hiragana and katakana. I think you can still find the free PDFs for the Genki books & workbooks online too, which is what classrooms use to teach the first 2 years :0

Wakaranai is correct too if it’s a v casual setting ! I think it makes sense you’ll speak more casually if you’re understanding spoken conversations better than reading :o I saw that would happen w my classmates in my JP classes. Like I learned a lot better through novels so I was pretty formal

I’ve been playing little bits at a time and really enjoying it ! You have main tasks to do but can do little tasks for your villagers that pop up, too. You build your friendship with them and can gain items, emotes, etc from leveling your friendship w/them. I love Yunguo
