I’m visiting the UK’s National Robotarium today and have no idea what to expect. Other than robots, AI and data science. Never knew we had something like this, so it’s going to be an interesting day - thenationalrobotarium.com

Yesterday @tmiket.bsky.social asked about old tools we miss. One of mine, circa 1998, was Corel WebMaster Suite. This is how I got started building websites at 16. It even had a VRML world builder - back when we thought the future of the web would be interconnected 3D spaces you could walk through!

Working on a personal #OpenBadges project - building a backpack (digital portfolio for storing and managing badges). Making progress, but still need to figure out AI summarisation and get my head around the Open Badges 3.0 spec.

Observation of 2024: A lot of people I know working in corporate IT seem shocked and horrified when I point out there are other AI large language models beyond Microsoft Copilot.

Just received this in the mail. A brand new remake of the ZX Spectrum. I learned to program on the ZX +2 which came a bit later and had a usable keyboard, but the original Spectrum was perfect for games.

Found this in LinkedIn. Quite a dystopian example of possible use if AI in employment in the future. How will employers navigate the ethics of this, and will they even care?

This week's Sunday film in the Stewart household is a return to an old classic. Last week's was 'The Art of Racing in the Rain' which was quite an emotional journey. What is everyone else doing today?

I'm Rob, an L&D adviser working in the Scottish public sector.
Fascinated by technology, but more importantly, how it can be used to help rather than hinder people. Helping others overcome underconfidence about their ability to continuously learn is what gets me up each day.
