I do remember even in my semester there that there was a mental load in figuring “everything” out. Like a lot of business conducted at the post office. Some things only at a certain type of pharmacy. Etc. but that’s to be expected in a new place. Also not making friend and avoiding expats? Ugh.

That’s a really long article to say “we wanted it to be just like the US but in France and it wasn’t so we quit”. Good grief.

my mom always mixed seltzer and juice and we called them "Momtails" (mom's cocktails) and they were fancy enough feeling that my kids loved them too. Juice feels "thick" to me now on its own.

So ridiculous. I hope all of the parents submit requests to call the teachers by their names since "Mr. D" is probably not his legal name. Actually "Mr." is no one's legal name is it? And what about "Mrs."??? doesn't that identify her sexuality as a married woman? Who will think of the children!

and this is why mothers end up in prison for leaving a kid in the car (not in hot weather) to run into the store to grab milk. "They" think the mother neglected and endangered the child because "what if someone abducted him"??? it's more likely that the child would have been hurt in a shopping cart

and it's that shame response that people need to get over. Just say "oh wow i didn't know, thanks for helping me learn" and there's nothing shameful about that. No one is supposed to know everything or be perfect. and I don't know why (men in particular) can't get that message.
