The Swiss are fiercely independent and did not even join the UN until 2002 (by a 55% majority in a referendum). They're also financially astute and fiscally conservative. I would surmise that they simply won't tolerate being "chumped" by continuing to fund after "fat-cat" US has decided to pull out.
I did not predict CH being among the first to follow the US example of cutting funding for the UN.

I am genuinely puzzled as to why this marine conservation biologist and science communicator has blocked me on this forum. All I did was follow him. I publicly support the BBNJ and ocean conservation. Is it because of my affiliation with a maritime school? In any event, it has ruined my fucking day!
