Exactly. What’s happening is what was constantly said was going to happen. They truly voted for this and I don’t know where any feeling of surprise comes from.

I still have faith the institutional guardrails will hold

There will inevitably be an executive vs judicial branch showdown that will determine whether our checks and balances are actual guardrails or just words on written on paper.

I was thinking the same thing

We shouldn’t appeal to people’s xenophobia or reinforce the false stereotype that immigrants kill American jobs even. Highlighting “immigrant” and “killing” is quite the choice.

Things like this will never make the news but it’s an example of under the radar ways that immigrants are being intentionally inconvenienced and ultimately harmed. I can maybe understand removing the clerk’s names for privacy/safety concerns but the numbers? What’s up with that?
