Dang that was unnecessarily hostile. I’m critical of the convoy and of media that launder it. I didn’t hear Ling doing that, though. I’m always open to correction. If you have specific quotes/timestamps where he legitimized his convoy coverage, please share.

Could you please share for the lazy more background on the legitimized convoy “reporting”?

Mr. Parrish isn’t just any interviewer; he’s a former CSE spy with serious reach, credibility, and capital. That kind of platform can shape public narratives, especially when it presents as neutral or intellectual.

What a great episode!
As a side note, can we talk about the decision to have a former intelligence officer interview Poilievre?

Indeed. The article she referenced is really interesting.

Even as DOGE, or the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, has created controversy and chaos, some members of a group of tech CEOs have shown interest in creating a similar agency in Canada.

Totally agree. It’s scary how quickly young people can get pulled in, and the privilege of being able to step in at all isn’t available to everyone. There’s some research on how marginalized and immigrant families face way more barriers to protecting their kids online.

If there were a widespread, systemic culture where women’s worst behavior had real structural power behind it, then “womansphere” might make sense. But that’s just not the world we live in.
April 1, 2025 at 11:33 PM
I hear your point, but “manosphere” isn’t about blaming all men; it’s about calling out a culture shaped by male dominance that too many men, consciously or not, participate in or benefit from. It’s less about naming individuals and more about naming patterns.
April 1, 2025 at 11:33 PM
Far from a minority sadly. The manosphere might be the loudest, but the attitudes it normalizes (from “innocent” sexist jokes to outright misogyny) are widespread. It’s not about hating men; it’s about recognizing how deeply this stuff is baked into everyday norms, often without us even realizing.

Yes, and then we’ll start hearing versions of “oh well feminism was going too far so we had to stop. ”
