Glimpses from the first few days. There is no real aim to achieve, just wandering along old an new paths. Fancy coffee shops make a good starting point for my excursions.

To me travelling by plane lacks the actual experience that comes with a change of place: you step into a metal box in Germany, sit, sleep, and when you step out again, you are in Tokyo. But anyway, I am happy to be back here #tokyolove #artistabroad

Impatient landscapes.
I wanted to bring my palette sheets to life on a big canvas. As always, the dynamic is totally different than on smaller sheets, but the feeling of impatience is still there.

Palette sheet.
I use a big sketchbook as a palette and to clean off brushes before i wash them out.
Somehow the pages all turn into landscapes over time.

Moving on from the studies on paper, I developed larger paintings in a reduced style, all on very rough canvas. These floral characters all just woke up and wonder what their day is going to be about.

Floral studies of chrysanthemums and dahlias. I adore how their flower heads look like they only just woke up, hair still untidy. Each of them acts like a distinct personality.

I am a visual person. Lately inspired by botanical elements. Working from natural studies into abstraction.
You have to start somewhere.
