I know this is way late, and I haven't even finished up editing my first book yet, but I can't think of something I'd hate more than someone reading and critiquing my book before I had finished at least one or two editing passes on it. Writing needs time to breath before showing its full potential.

I think I'm going to dumpster the A.I. images entirely and try to describe as vividly as I can what I want an artist to create instead of showing them A.I. shit to "use as inspiration". Thinking about it, I'd rather have nothing of my book be tainted by A.I.

I honestly hate that I like the design fashion of the images so much. Maybe I'll try to recreate them myself with inferior detailing, I don't know. Nothing about showing an actual artist some A.I. garbage to replicate feels good though.

I wonder if people would hate it as much as they do if it gave proper sources to the work it was taking. It'd be nice if it showed the original artworks, and credited the artists / writers appropriately. I don't associate with AI at all now, those first image prompts that I did was when it was new.

Ohhhh. That makes much more sense now. I didn't catch the part where the "A.I. editing" was more like A.I. doing all the homework for him. No worries, the only thing I know how to say in a different language is "I eat small children," and I took four years of French haha.

So i could hire them to do the art instead.

My brother keeps trying to sell me on A.I. editing, but I want A.I. to stay as far away from my story as possible. The only thing I've used A.I. for is cover mockups to show an actual artist an idea of what I'd like... And even that feels gross. Wish it showed whose art it stole...

I go to my local library and disable all my internet so I have to focus on my editing. My brain is so easily distracted otherwise. xD

I envy your ability to long form edit. I get through a page, maybe two pages each day (roughly an hour to two hours) and my brain is like, okay we're done let's go, and walks out the door without me.

Could always force a more high priority task on that character to be addressed in a future book. That or you can pull out the ol' George R.R. Martin approach. =P Or have that character blackmailed into stopping work on the case, and passing it off to someone else out of spite. Just some ideas. GL!
