This comes with all aspects of freelance work. Yes, while there should be some flexibility in your client(s) wants, remember: you may be working for them, they came to you for your expertise. It's up to you to deliver the best product, regardless if it is not what your client originally envisioned.

In short, if you have the ability to back up your statement without severely diminishing the quality of what you are presenting, take it.
