My mum's list of favourite films included things like High Society, The Sound of Music and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and then . . . RoboCop 😆

Maybe a few obvious things here:
Don't crowd your stories with too many characters.
You could argue every word counts even more so in short fiction than in longform.
Have an engaging opening line that grabs the reader and a closing line that resonates (not exclusive to short fiction certainly). 👍📚
