I'm a bit of a casual expert on the Dunning-Krueger effect
What about getting my library to buy it instead?

Going Postal by Terry Pratchett is not my first Discworld and it certainly won't be the last but I'm REALLY going to need books to stop being about the horrors du jour

"Hey what if I wrote a book about big tech and private equity?"

Terry it is 2004 please stop doing this to us in the present

The beginning of my 80s Legion, this Aethon Heavy Sentinel is popping his polo collar and taking down some heretics. Too bad the muddy ground is gonna ruin his paint job, cause he's taking this to a Whitesnake concert right after!

A book I ironically ditched in college for being too "kids these days" (it's anything but), I'm wondering now if Amusing Ourselves to Death needs an update in the form of the Age of Algorithms. Not very happy about how prescient it was about education rolling over in the face of new technology.

A good book that's only fault is being a descendent of a different canon than I'm used to, The Memory Police gets at a lot of uncomfortable truths about "guess I gotta unload the dishwasher" thoughts in these Unprecedented Times™ eras

Started these #warhammer Tempestus Aquilons #killteam guys way back in March and just let it get away from me. Kind of a mad dash for the last couple but if you can't tell which those are I guess I win!

Off of a mention by @kleinman.bsky.social the last book of the summer is Time Shelter which is three books in one (metaphor, what-if, and then breakdown) about how we think about or handle the past. Definitely art in that I define art as "I don't think I really GOT it" but I still really liked it!

Not too mad about the fire alarm going off during Sierra Ferrell's last song, because we got an encore on the street outside the venue.

Shout out to my main man Oliver on fiddle.

It's a Kurt Vonne-glut of good reading this month. This one was more funny and less depressing than the other teo- though I'm sure it was just as bleak during the Cold War!

Taking a break from a big heavy nonfiction book to do another Vonnegut: Breakfast of Champions. It was good and weird but I really gotta stop reading "everything is getting steadily worse" fiction until something changes in the world

Picked this one out spur of the moment and was surprised to find it a collection of essays instead of a single narrative. Didn't read EVERY one of them, but really enjoyed the ones I did, especially the Haitian/Cuban comparisons!

First mini complete since soccer- my son kept complimenting my "guys" so I offered to get him a mini to display... Enter Captain America!

It took me an entire soccer season to get through half this book and two days of summer to get through the other half. A re-read that had me thinking "nothing is happening, why do I like it so much?"

Didn't quite remember the death in childbirth so that's a fun dad moment...

You can call these guys Ray, or you can call them Jay, or you can call them a 70s Legion pair of HERMES VELETARII SENTINEL Walkers!

Fiction February continues apace! Despite pre-ordering this a year ago, here's Hell is World Without You by Jason Kirk. A lot about Christianity but even more about being a teenager and buddy I don't miss either! I get how Catholic @suuusanj.bsky.social felt about my Methodist youth group stories...
