An indoctrinated person can uphold the system which indoctrinated them while struggling to free themselves from it. Contradictory but both can be true at the same time, which the siblings story helps to illustrate within a larger narrative with other characters on the very same journey.

Actually appreciate and enjoyed this article. I agree with the author when it comes to the opening depiction of Marach. I also disagree, in that, the depiction quickly gets the audience to understand that he is indoctrinated. It also helps to illustrate the struggle one can have when indoctrinated.
