Diaries of a Dasher

Just a Midwestern gig worker.
Full of many vents and rants, but also gratitude.
Content on this page is mine alone and does not represent any businesses.
Yeah, I've basically quit Dashing.

It's not worth the pay. Less than $9/hr on average, sometimes $3/hr.

After business expenses, taxes, car maintenance - The job costs more than it pays.

I'll keep my account when I'm desperate for quick cash, but I'm done holding my breath.

If Trump's "big, beautiful" reconciliation bill goes through, 13.7 million people will lose their health insurance & even more will become underinsured.

Make no mistake, thousands of low-income & working class Americans will die unnecessarily if it passes. We must not allow it.

Lol, not me telling everybody who says they want to start doordash that it's not worth it.

Scheduled my shift a few days ago.

I've been in the hotspot zones for an hour.....

Not a single delivery/order for an entire fucking hour.

I'm not okay.
March 25, 2025 at 11:26 PM
I fell below 100 deliveries and am stuck on gold status again.

🙄 7.50$ in 90 minutes... Drove across the entire zone, sticking to hot spots and only got 2 deliveries the entire time. 0.00$ tip on both.

I was 16, walking thru a grocery store, when I realized that recycling and anti-litter campaigns are pointless until our food industry drastically changes. Ecosafe biodegradable measures are the responsibility of the market (and government). Not the citizens; we have to hold them accountable.

Dear new dashers, do not be rude with employees that ask you to confirm the pickup. I know it seems contradictory, but there are people who are stealing food. Additionally the employees have to do what they're told to do. Be nice, they'll be nice to you!

"I'll give you a cash tip if..."

I'm never doing extra again for a promised "cash tip" too many customers are fucking liars.
February 24, 2025 at 3:00 AM
No seriously, have your porch light on if you are ordering at night. Turning on the porch light so that I can see the door number as I am walking up with a flashlight is a huge pain in the ass.

BREAKING: The USDA has confirmed five additional dairy herds in California have tested positive for the virus, raising the total to 732.

Currently, 74% of the state's dairy herds are infected with H5N1.

I seriously am flabbergasted that #Doordash is going to offer customers a fake scheduled timeslot, and put Dashers in the line of fire!

The moment you put in an order it goes off to a Dasher. There is no scheduling.

I didn't know anything about it until 2 different customers were screwed over!
February 22, 2025 at 2:02 PM
#DoorDash is straight up lying to customers.

I didn't handle the bombardment of texts well but this is shit service Doordash is providing

SCHEDULED DELIVERY IS A LIE.

SCHEDULED DELIVERY IS A SHAM.

I follow the instructions pushed to my phone. I'm given a location and limited amount of time.

For the love of quick and reliable delivery TURN ON YOUR OUTSIDE LIGHTS when ordering after dark.

400$ to file and pay taxes.
Refund: $30

I'm going to fucking cry. I don't HAVE 400$ I couldn't file.

I worked 3 hrs for $28

I'm being stripped bare and it feels like imma bout to be living up in my car come spring.

Arby's, what the literal fuck.

NO handsoap or sanitizer in the men's room

I know other men are fucking disgusting but you're fucking kidding me.

Good thing i keep hand sanitizer in the car for such occasions

5 1/2 hours, 53$ 😅😅 This doesn't pay either bill.

Still praying to make more in my last half hour for this shift. 9.60/hr average so far.
Fingers crossed that today's 6hr shift pays the auto insurance or car loan. 1.5 hours made 23$ so far.

Keep those tips rolling in 🫶🫶

I'm never ready for an Aldi's order. I don't have bags I can just give away to customers. But i could learn to keep a quarter in my pocket at all times... 🤔

Winter Storm

🤔🤔 If only my area gave bad-weather tips.

I'm not interested in risking it in crazy weather for a surplus of 0$ tips.

I have a neighbor being threatened with eviction over 300$ and I wish I had that to spare.

They're disabled and have lived here a decade. I worry about them.

Thank goodness "Earn by Time" was available. Just completed a double dash order with $0 in tips.

$14.50 for a 50 minute job.

NOICE!

If this was earn-per-offer it would have been $7 max.

Really nice day. Bunch of nice folks and generous folks. Had a hiccup at the beginning with an order not showing up for one of the restaurants but the customer was super understanding.
February 7, 2025 at 5:52 AM
I really hope I never have to deliver for that one restaurant again.

Genuinely, don't sign your store up for a Doordash partnership if all of your employees fucking Hate us. I haven't seen a 180° flip into unwarranted nastiness like that since I tried talking to the flutes in band class. 😅😅😅
February 6, 2025 at 5:03 PM
First time I felt the need to report a restaurant to Doordash.

Customer service goes a long way, even with dashers.

Like, tell me in fewer words you hate working with delivery services. I never gave a nasty attitude to them. 😅😮‍💨

I appreciate the well-paying tips today!

Friendly reminder to make sure your phone # and instructions are updated with every order.

I love to send customers updates on the deliveries. Any delays, deliveries, or pick-ups that might be ahead of yours.

I also send ETAs for when I'll be at your door
