The numbers look a lot like what we see in Norway, too, according to last year's annual student survey (which some 26,000 students answered). I've translated the choices but I almost don't need to if you're looking at the two graphs side by side.

I've been in Oslo for two days, which always means a trip to Tronsmo. I never know which books I'm going to walk out of there with and I love that about it. Here's what it was this time:
Six books laid out on the floor. They are: On Being Ill by Virginia Woolf, Bring No Clothes: Bloomsbury and the Philosophy of Fashion by Charlie Porter, Kew Gardens: A Short Story Set In the Kew Botanic Gardens by Virginia Woolf, The Place of Tides by James Rebanks, The Language of Things, by Deyan Sudjic, and Fra engelsc til English: et språk blir til by Kristin Bech.

Did you truly just refer to the Bayeux freaking Tapestry as "the penis tapestry," NRK? Norway's national broadcaster is so deeply unserious it's upsetting. I wish for better from publicly-funded journalism.

Went with Strawberry Thief for the blouse of my festdrakt I sewed ahead of this year's Norwegian Constitution Day.

Love it in the low winter sunlight! I have a photo of it from 2014, I've always loved how the panels at the side look like knitting.
A slightly faded old timber door with various decorations. The door itself is nearly square, with a pattern of concentric circles (the innermost being decorated), two large swirly brackets, a round ring (knocker?), and an ornate keyhole. On either side of the door are decorative timber panels whose carved pattern vaguely resembles the wrong side of knitted stockinette stitch.

Since there are more and more yarny folks following me on here, a yarny post seems in order. Here's the start of my Hedgebind pullover, a pattern by Marina Skua inspired by Art Nouveau book covers.

Haven't shared this over here yet, but on Halloween I defended my PhD thesis at NTNU's Department of Teacher Education. So grateful to my supervisors, my evaluation committee, and everyone in my community who helped me reach the finish line. It was a very, very good day.

I *do* read and enjoy fiction, as my Storygraph stats show, but I think nonfiction sticks with me better.
