I have been reliably informed by An Expert In The Field that the concept of “too hot to eat” does not apply to baked goods. Possibly applies only to microwaved Hot pockets and Macca’s apple pies. Definitely not to banana bread with cinnamon sugar crust.

For the second day in a row, the grey and gloomy evening suddenly exploded into a light show. Shot with my iPhone

From my walk last night, a lovely sunset and amazing glowing moonrise beaming down.

With the storm surge and high tides, we already are having some of the biggest waves I’ve ever seen. This area is an entrance to the Bay and is normally quite placid. Those are huuuge

Mist droplets on the grasses or a 13 year old with a Bedazzler kit run amok?

And a nice shelf fungus

Our resident kekeno or fur seal lazily waving a flipper as he lazed on the rocks today. He’s a bit battered and old but seems content, which I can relate to. Seen on my walk.

The desert was beautiful but I loved the North Cascades
January 26, 2025 at 8:33 AM
But will be forever grateful to see the desert in bloom

There were some absolutely evil stabby flowers. Apparently the yellow star thistle. Exists only to rip through pants and shred your legs. A “noxious” weed, gross understatement

Through the entire trip I was able to see more than I had anticipated, very lucky. Until the heat waves started followed by wildfires. But still, flowers!
January 26, 2025 at 8:33 AM
Fortunately taking all the pictures gave me a good excuse to stop and rest my legs

Everywhere we hiked, the sagebrush and chaparral were thriving. In southern California all the cacti and small bushes were bloomin

I think I’ll post some flowers from my PCT hike of ‘23. There was a record wet/ snowy winter, and then a superbloom in the desert. All photos shot with my iPhone while simultaneously gasping for air while hauling my pack up a steep slope.
