I have been a lawyer, a novelist, a playwright, a poet, a comedian, and some of those things I still am, sort-of. Half Aussie. Half Newfie. All Canadian. Pretty far left. Have 2 grown sons. One husband. One dog. Part of a horse. Also: old (over 65).

I am playing DND online, and one of the players just shared this picture of her dog and her cat cuddling on the sofa.

Roll for cuteness...

CANADIANS there is a racist rally scheduled in Toronto for Sept 13th. See comments for steps to take re having the permit revoked. ALSO anyone in the GTA free up Sept 13 to be sure you can attend counterprotest.

Burlington, Ontario, again - in the west end of the Greater Toronto Area lies this wonderful hard-sand beach. OK yeah it has hydro towers but they're actually kinda beautiful. Toronto itself has great beaches too, but I love Burlington Beach.

Burlington Beach, on Lake Ontario, west of Toronto. It's 30 degrees and we have miles of clean freshwater beaches. We don't need the USA.

ONE poisonous snake? That's supposed to scare the Yankee scientists?

Here's my mum's pic of a salt water croc they shot in the Burdekin when she was a girl in 1931. Our biggest lizard is a whopping 20cm long.

But you're right about our geese. Talk about deadlies!

I'm an Ontario visiting my Calgary family in their holiday spot in British Columbia and just so grateful to be Canadian.

Or they recognize it and still give it their wholehearted support.

Some shots from Toronto's support-american-democracy march on June 14th. About 1000 folks came out.

In Toronto at @sueanddwight.bsky.social 's concert of songs of protest. We are all thinking of the No Kings protests in the USA today. There are supporting marches at the US Consulate in Toronto, and elsewhere across Canada. Fight on, USA.

I love my merlin app. These are the birds. I heard while walking a dirt road in the middle of nowhere.

This is my backyard garden in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the most wonderful country in the world, hands down. I hope the USA somehow survives but I would never want to be part of it.
