Hmmm... I wonder if he was the absolutely delightful older gentleman who gave unofficial lunchtime lessons in the DCI's parking garage back in the early 1990s. He never talked about his background, but he clearly had pull to access those spaces and unquestionably knew his stuff.

Hah! Much as I may like and respect you, Rory, this is going on my syllabus for one reason and one reason only: it gives the best picture of the variety of approaches to CA available.

Deal with it.

Congratulations! It's such a good read, as my students will be finding out in the spring term.

Exactly! That's what also will make it so useful in the classroom.

Well played, my friend. Very well played.

So glad that I got a sneak peek. It's an excellent read. I'm even more glad that this will be out in time for me to use it in my spring 2026 syllabi. Kudos to all involved. @magslong.bsky.social @rorycormac.bsky.social @dvanp.bsky.social Genevieve Lester.

Got my copy of the book and my ticket for your talk. Can't wait.

You do choose the coolest projects, my friend.

"Intelligency Community?"

Is that from the original or did the typo occur in translation?

(If in the original, I may need to apply. It's never too late to acquire some intelligency.)

For better or worse, though, I'll bet the majority remain true professionals who will continue to struggle to convey hard truths for the good of the country.

God bless and protect them, because it's clear that they will suffer for it.

It's a long-held dream.

Huh? You're talking to the wife and daughter of veterans, who served (as a civilian) in war zones herself as well as putting her husband on multiple flights to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nobody said those soldiers chose this mission or that post. My comment refers to those who chose to deploy them.

I predict that you'll enjoy it. Both for its own sake and because there's some interesting/useful material along the lines of the research ideas we recently discussed. I look forward to our discussion of it all next month.

My impression is that Mark is on target with that one, alas.
