Yeah that's what it really is. It's the fact that low info voters feel dissatisfied with establishment policies and looked for change or someone who could seem to bring it. They found that in Trump and thus rallied behind him.
December 17, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Yes actually, that's exactly what to analyze. Neoliberalism and how we got here socioeconomically, that's the cause of desperation that lead to people turning to Trump and ultraconservative populists like him.

I don't want Israel to exist as a state but the people of it sure.
December 17, 2025 at 8:41 PM
I don't want them to, no nation truthfully should have but especially not a genocidal state like israel
December 17, 2025 at 8:16 PM
Are we being serious? Are we genuinely calling one of, if not the world's most corrupt dictator who holds onto power by oligarchic capital supporting him as socialist?
December 17, 2025 at 7:57 PM
Yeah and neither of those are allowed as Israel isn't in the North Atlantic really but, I digress. Even so that won't stop Israel from committing genocide as we have seen with other NATO members (Turkey)
December 17, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Their competition.
December 17, 2025 at 7:54 PM
I don't know If Id call him a liberal or so on. But he certainly has no communist bone in my body which makes it odd when I see Tankies (and I'm referring to actual ones) defending him like my sibling in Marx, the last time we had two superpowers and multipolarity imperialism intensified due to
December 17, 2025 at 7:54 PM
And your solution to stop Israel's nuclear terrorism is..?
December 17, 2025 at 7:46 PM
If Israel uses nuclear weapons then it would be met with retaliation from other nations, not nuclear perhaps but a Korea style coalition entering Israel
December 17, 2025 at 7:39 PM
Tbh yeah, The IDF sucks at its job, spent 3 years flattening an area the size of dc and still can't beat the insurgency in that area.
December 17, 2025 at 7:35 PM
To rig things) he practically admitted that.
December 17, 2025 at 5:03 PM
Yeah it's a bit of both ngl, but even if we were to assume that was the main reason it still is in lieu of the millions dissatisfied with neoliberalism that will turn to candidates like trump (ie he's the symptom, not the core issue and people will turn to populists like him even if he doesn't try
December 17, 2025 at 5:03 PM
That kind of thinking gets us no where. What matters is that we analyze why we lost and how to actually overcome that.
December 17, 2025 at 5:01 PM
Yes, they are. I was explaining that both are exceptions to the rule because of the factors I mentioned that I suppose you can't comprehend.
December 17, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Not understanding it is not word salad.
December 17, 2025 at 4:48 PM
I know they do, but cognitive dissonance is one hell of a drug when intertwined with populism.
December 17, 2025 at 4:27 PM
So unless progressive populists are run the fascist populism Trump got elected on will continue to rise.
December 17, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Popularity contest that got us here. That's the point. Populism will almost always triumph against establishment candidates when theres a dissatisfied class of people, which there is. In our case that populism took the form of Trump and there isn't a neoliberal candidate who can match it electorally
December 17, 2025 at 4:26 PM
A campaign that actually gives a voice to the desperation of citizens, Trump was a known conman before 2016 with several bankruptcies, he still got elected and that shows that it's populism that matters, not a candidate's identity or even character deeds.

3. Your almost getting it, yes it was a
December 17, 2025 at 4:26 PM
1. And Democrats have fought against every major progressive attempt, including Mamdani most recently, which is exactly the problem of why Harris can't run, neoliberal candidates will only continue that cycle of punching left.

2. While no doubt misogyny exists, I cannot see it getting in the way of
December 17, 2025 at 4:26 PM
I didn't say that, I said that the reason this is flaring up again is because of the Axios article, I want to snip out neoliberal candidates in the bud thus engaged.
December 17, 2025 at 4:20 PM
For someone making a "it's only your opinion" claim, you sure haven't presented any counter argument.
December 17, 2025 at 4:19 PM
That status quo message fails in our modern day, 2016 was a decade ago.
December 17, 2025 at 4:18 PM
In that world neoliberal candidates cannot win, and we are living in that world. Harris is one of them. Clinton was as well, the only reason she had the success she did compared to now is because she rode off the popularity of the incumbent establishment to act as a more expert, experienced force.
