] is now a good time to say that the ONLY reason salt route was remotely on my mind is because a few weeks back i rediscovered this old salt route fic that i started writing way back sometime in 2021. that i genuinely Dont Remember Writing
"HEY HEY HEY!" Spamton leaned toward the human standing before him enthusiastically, keeping an eye on their weapon. "I'VE NEVER SEEN A [HeartShapedObject] LIKE THAT BEFORE!! MY EYES ARE [[Burning]] LIKE [[DVDs of ANY movie at Half-pr1ce!]]" The Lightner stepped back, shuffling into a wary fighting stance. Spamton moved forward again, folding his hands. "LISTEN! I HAVE A VERY SPECIL [Deal] FOR YOU KID!" He held out one small hand invitingly. After a moment of hesitation, Kris nodded carefully. They adjusted their grip on the hilt of their sword. "THAT'S THE ATTITUDE, YOU LITTLE [Slime]!" Spamton cried. "DEALS LIKE THIS ONLY COME ONCE IN YOUR [[Ant-sized]] [[Rapidly-shrinking]] LIFE!!" He reached into his pocket. "BELIEVE IT OR !! I USED TO be A BIG SHOT. THE BIGGEST!!!" His voice faltered. He patted his other pocket. "BUT NOW..." He patted both pockets. "BUT NOW..." He felt around in his shirt pocket, to no avail. "AH, [?%!&]. KID HAVE YOU SEEN MY [Keys]?" They shook their head. Before he could say anything else, they opened their mouth to speak. "I can help you find them." Spamton clasped his hands together. "REALLY?? THAT'S SO [Hospitality] OF YOU KRIS!" Kris sheathed their sword and took hold of Spamton's wrist. They started forward. Spamton stumbled a little. Their strides were much longer than his. "SLOW DOWN KRIS THIS ISN'T [[Rush hour on a Monday morn1ng]]!" But they continued. Spamton eventually gave up on trying to keep up, and he let them drag him along. The alleyway opened up before the two of them and they stopped at the side of the road. "HOCHI MAMA KID!!! THAT'S A [!?S?] OF A [[Traffic jam]] IF I'VE EVER SEEN ONE!" He scrambled to his little feet and reached for the walk button. Kris smacked his hand away. Spamton jumped and recoiled, rubbing his hand. "GEE KRIS, YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO [[Spoil the fun]]." Kris pulled him forward again. They weaved east through the sea of cars, their strides long and fast as if they had a destination in mind. "WHERE ARE WE HEADED?" Spamton wasn't sure why they'd be in such a hurry to look for his keys, unless they already knew where to find them. Kris didn't answer. Queen shifted in her seat, staring blankly out the windshield. Her mixtape had ended, and Kris still wasn't back yet. She frowned. "Hey Kris' Friend Go Climb On Top Of The Car And See Where Kris Is" Noelle sat up straight. "Um, sure!" She hopped out of the car and scrambled up the hood. She stood and looked around. There were still cars all around; the walk button hadn't been pressed, and Kris was nowhere in sight. Except - they were. A flash of movement caught her eye far ahead of them. She could just barely make out Kris' turquoise figure making its way between the rows and rows of cars. They were dragging something behind them. "Do You See Them Yet" Noelle slid back down breathlessly. "I, um….. I saw them! They're way past the button... all on their own. They're leaving..." "What" said Queen, her mouth forming a perfect O. "They Can't Do That I Told Them To Press The Button What Are They Doing" "I don't know..." "It Doesn't Matter Right Now Get Out Of The Car Fast" They both hurried out of the vehicle and stood back. "What's wrong? Are we going to follow Kr--" The car promptly exploded. "Oh Good I Was Afraid We Were Going To Go Kablooey"
