Tirea, the very new moon in the māramataka.
A very slim slim crescent moon, on a sky that goes from black at the horizon to orange, then almost white, then blue. The sky is criss crossed with very dark whispy clouds.

Coincidentally these pictures of the wonderful Turtle Therapy were taken 1 year apart, 19 May, in 2024 and 2025. I loved where the shop was tucked way up Left Bank, it was such a neat location to photograph. Hopefully it’s a good move for them and means that business is good. www.turtletherapy.co.nz

Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS), lit with bright golden light from the New Zealand sunset, on a yellow sky, gradually becoming deep blue at the top of the image. The comet is at a 45 degree angle, and its core and tail take up over half the image. The tail is quite large, fanning out and becoming faint at the extremities. The core is a light golden colour, and there is a narrow band of thin, but dark, cloud in the lower quarter of the image.
