I don’t “hate” you. Just reacting to patriotism in this moment. Like, genuinely, what is the point of this? It’s not about “having fun.” It’s about the helplessness of watching it all burn down when it was never really sweet to begin with.

TBH. It doesn’t matter. I’m just gonna go about my day and you can go about yours and we’ll call it good.

This isn’t “fun.” It’s just a tiring example of misguided idealism as the wolves close in. Like, why was this post even necessary? Whatever. Why is anything necessary anymore?

And that’s not rhetorical, btw. If someone can give me something to hold on to, I’d appreciate it because ICE is quietly moving around my state and right now and it’s feeling like 1930’s Germany.

What’s exceptional about a country founded on slave labor, has denied the rights of so many and is the main enabler of genocide around the world? What’s there to be patriotic about here?

This is why I never trust liberals. They think that our current political moment is an aberration; a side quest before continuing the noble main quest. As a black woman born at the bottom of this, I can tell you it’s not a moment. It’s the rot at the foundation of this country.
