As a future healthcare provider I will use nutritional counseling for my patients and be sure to emphasize the importance of knowing what we are eating. I will help them by teaching them techniques and telling them how to stay motivated and committed to see results. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I liked seeing this post especially as I prep for my board exams because I tend to have a big list of things to do throughout the day but I think cutting them down and working on doing a few things well instead of doing multiple things is important as this post highlights even when studying.

This was a post I loved to see right before finals week as it gives us a way to train our brains to develop healthy habits and when it comes to studying that can be important. It also is important do do other healthy things besides eat healthy to feel energized enough to even study for finals!

One of the strategies I use during finals to make sure I eat enough nutrients and not have to stress about how much time I will be wasting making food instead of studying is by meal prepping. One of my favorite dishes is an orzo salad. It is also well balanced and easy. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This post talks about ingredients and things to watch out for when choosing healthy meals and foods, this is important as a parent trying to teach their children what is necessarily good and bad! Being able to learn early on can promote long term healthy habits.
Guess what? Nutrition rules have changed. Organic = healthy, artificial colors were the real problem, and if you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it. Finally, a foolproof system!

(Or is it? 🤔)

When talking to a future client we want to give them other things besides dietary habits to help create a change in their lifestyle. Some of the things below listed are great things to consider into your daily life when it comes to behavioral changes that you want to implement into your life.

Something that struck out in Tom's story was how he would eat good some days and junk food the others. This is something that don't often think about as providers when planning and I will talk to future clients how it's common they shouldn't feel bad about it on bad days. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

When it comes to obesity and changing your lifestyle it can be important to make decision that will give you long lasting results rather then short term, being consistent rather then extreme was something that I loved seeing in this post because many of us jump into doing too much and falling off.

Something that James Corden talks about in his video was the lack of knowledge that many individuals have on a healthy diet which can contribute to obesity. Not everyone has assess to something like a nutritionist or technology or classes that teach them. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I loved seeing this post as it gives strategies to fill us up with small meals. Being a student we don't get a lot of time on our hands and when we are hungry don't have time to eat, so when we do utilizing these strategies to be full longer definitely can be beneficial and help being hungry often.

A barrier I can relate to is the lack of time we have as students to prepare healthy meals. This has beens something that has been a constant difficulty especially after college started because we have so much going on the time we have is not enough to make healthy meals. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is something that was an interesting read and shows the importance of eating foods with high fiber, whole plant foods, and can help get your vitamins and minerals in with a balanced plate overall for a low amount of calories!

Greens powder is something that has been more commonly seen nowadays and is something I have been looking into using. Students and others sometimes are busy, don't get enough time to focus on their diets and end up using supplements like these to help get their greens in! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I loved reading this as it highlights interesting factors to help individuals to understand that eating healthy does't mean you can't occasionally pick up something sweet. It is more about changing lifestyle habits and this is something that would be good for patients trying to change their habits.
There is no “one right way” to eat. Healthy eating is not about being perfect for a day or a few months. Your lifestyle will always be a work in progress. Consequently, making dietary changes is something you commit to for the rest of your life.

This is a great post to keep in mind as it includes low carb breakfast meals that are nutrient dense, this could be something that is good for someone doing a fad diet (keto diet specifically) so that the meal includes all sources of nutrients.

A fad diet that I have always been interested to learn more about is a keto diet. Although something I wonder is when trying to cut carbs and imbed more fats can this lead to higher chances of eating too much processed fats rather then unsaturated fats? #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is a perfect post for this week and something I am glad I ran into on bluesky! I've been trying to incorporate more protein in my meals and this gives me a great idea of how much 30 grams of each thing can equal out into especially black beans for my pasta salads!
February 17, 2025 at 4:37 AM
I love pasta and will always have that as a meal although because I do not get protein as much protein as a vegetarian it can become a meal thats unbalanced, something like black beans in a pasta salad meal with vegetables will help me achieve a balanced meal.

In the last 24 hour food recall I would not say I am surprised by my results because I was on rotations so I didn't eat meals throughout the day besides dinner. I think that it is mostly accurate and definitely was not hard. I possibly could have missed a few snacks. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

One thing I learned this week is how essential vitamins and minerals are to the body. A fun fact that was interesting to me is that with a lack of certain vitamins certain diseases can occur. For example vitamin A can cause night blindness. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
