Screenwriter, fledgling director, and horror enthusiast. I unintentionally make cameos in things I wrote.
A fun little extra as the IMDB page for #TheCityisOurs goes up: a reminder of what can happen if you show up as a writer on set wearing a suit. Also known as my very first acting credit!

Some stills from #TheCityisOurs, fast approaching its big release! I have particularly fond memories of the second photo, as I’m playing the role of a bodyguard in that scene, somewhat out of frame.

A trailer for episode 3 of #TheCityIsOurs. This was the third episode I wrote for the series, setting up the world, its characters, and the approaching gang war.

Another teaser for #TheCityisOurs, coming out in March 2025! This one featuring yours truly, due to unexpectedly being cast as a bodyguard after showing up on set in a suit.

If your high fantasy princess isn’t spelunking in ancient tombs and desecrating graves to steal cursed trinkets, then she isn’t as irresponsible as mine is.

Another piece from the "Paranormal Prep" novel adaptation. Expanding on the relationships between the werewolf and vampire students has been the most fun part of this project. Check out the original #ChoiceofGames game here: www.choiceofgames.com/paranormal-p...

I often like to try to set up the vibe for whatever I’m writing as soon as possible.

If I can throw the word “dickhead” into the intro as well, it’s a fun bonus.

For #SecondPageSaturday, here’s something from “Paranormal Preparatory School”, adapted from my game of the same name. Caitria, the protagonist, was an invention purely for the script, but I love the opportunity to write a character with a lot of inner fury.

For this #FirstPageFriday, here’s page one of a comedy short that’s soon to go into production! “The Substitute” is the product of my love for and desire to take the piss out of John le Carré’s excellent spy fiction, and I can’t wait to be on set for this one.

I have a PhD in Creative Writing with a focus on political fiction, which means I have a lot of practice at writing very cynical passages about politics with no evidence, only for a friend who works with the Government to later tell me, “You’d be surprised”.

Another character introduction from “The King is Dead”. I’m not apologising for the Elvish joke at the end, and I hope I’m strong enough to never do so.

Still at work on the first draft of the novelisation of “The King is Dead”, and here’s the introduction of one of the story’s idiots/heroes (delete as appropriate).

One of my favourite gags ever from “Homecoming”, our horror comedy. Chatty Villager and Stern Villager ended up appearing in the script more than we planned, and I cannot wait to watch their scenes get filmed.

From Episode 2 of "The City is Ours". This was interesting to write: after a dynamic first episode of major character introductions and an unexpected death, this one was quieter and more reflective, but I think it's my favourite of the four episodes I contributed.

Spent most of New Year’s Day reading this excellent book: one of three really useful filmmaking guides I got for Christmas. I’ve learned so much from it, both in advance of directing my first feature and for my future screenwriting work!

I’ll never love writing as much as when I get to write a fun passage like this and have a warm, giggly feeling about it for the rest of the evening.

Getting "The Royalists" smartened up to send out to literary agents, and it's been a quiet little joy to rediscover two brief moments of comedy in a pretty dark and emotional fantasy story.

Another moment from “The King is Dead” that makes me happy, and one that came from me and my writing partner watching a bunch of fantasy movies as we searched for anything and everything to joke about.

“Ordinary Girl” is an absurd comedy screenplay, inspired by “Airplane”, “Not Another Teen Movie”, and the most deranged instincts of me and my co-writer. There are far more outlandish jokes, but I’ve always had an affection for this one.

I’m still not sure of the politics between First Page Friday and #PageSixSaturday, but I missed Friday, so here we go: an excerpt from the pilot of “Paranormal Preparatory School”, adapted from the game.

Panning the house party timeloop screenplay I've wanted to write for a while, and it's finally happened: I'm using a spreadsheet as a writing tool.

I love screenwriting so much, but I also love talking directly to the reader as an omniscient third-person narrator. The result is an unending loop of me adapting my prose into screenplays and my screenplays into prose.

I once saw a character in a fantasy movie earnestly draw a sword shaped like a lightning bolt and no-one called him on it. I didn’t just write a whole high fantasy comedy screenplay to take the piss out of that moment, but it’s like 63% why I did.

This is still one of my favourite exchanges that I've ever written. It's part of "The King is Dead": a high fantasy comedy about a medieval succession crisis, an evil sorcerer, and three extremely overworked royal councillors. #highfantasy #comedy #screenwriting #scriptsky
