I have recently learned that yes, the sensor degrades over a span of about seven years. I am less upset knowing that!

@feoh (as for the “almost”: I have one machine I treat as an appliance, but I designed the secure firmware update system it uses and I use my own CA as a root of trust for UEFI as well. It’s as low-risk as my other machines, I just thought it would be fun to do it this way!)

@feoh anecdotally, I leave Secure Boot off on almost all of my machines. I do not benefit from the guarantees it provides, and I also believe that if somebody has convinced me to install some persistent boot-time threat to that they have already likely done me much worse.
