every single one of these emails could have been a text. they had texting in 2017 I think. people could have texted their pedophile friend to ask what time the pedophile/race science party started but no. they all have a deep and abiding love for SMTP

Make the Goddamn meal and put it in your Free Fridge. Write the $100 check to the food bank. Ask your local school what they need for the kids and then go about trying to get that stuff.... Do these things regularly and you are making meaningful contributions to your communities.

This is not to deny your core point: the distinctions are a lot finer than the discourse would have us believe.

The phrasings even have a subtle but I think real distinction in connotations. The "kitchen table" imagery evokes a kind of middle-American, mom-and-dad-of-a-certain-color-with-2.3-kids household. Affordability leaves room for a broader coalition, I think.

But there are still meaningful differences. "Kitchen table issues" almost always comes in the same breath as advocating for the downplaying or deprioritization of vulnerable communities, which Mamdani refused to do.

@jamellebouie.net has been pointing out that there's a lot less daylight between Democratic candidates than folks are making out, which is maybe a more inclusive way of framing a similar point.

I like your idea of providing skills to teach LLMs about a language. I have been worried that LLMs will freeze innovation by incentivizing using existing technologies that are pre-trained into mainstream models.

I've been experimenting with implementing a programming language with Claude Code this week. I had a full LALR(1) parser implemented with lalrpop.github.io/lalrpop/ in a day. Resolving shift/reduce conflicts was a breeze.
