where I live we have mandated psychiatric care where people are a danger to themselves and are refusing open healthcare option. something you can apply for through the state.
Not sure if that's available where you live but if they seem even a little bit serious about suicide I'd look into it.

I watched this video like over a decade ago during a youtube deep dive. Saved it because it was so legendary, that was like when it had hundreds or maybe thousands of views.
