Some people were interested in my 3D brain puzzle 🧠 🖨️, so I added it to Thingiverse for anyone to download and print! I made it a few years ago for my niece so she can learn about the brain.
Let me know if you get to use it; I would love to see the results!

Good to see so many people at #StandupForScience in new york! Great encouragement to fight for the future of research in the US!

Ready to dive in? Here's all the code you need to run the Deconstructed Mapper (DeMapper) using MATLAB or BASH! 🖥️

The toolbox is fully documented and comes with tutorials to get you started. Check it out here: braindynamicslab.github.io/demapper/ 🚀

For example, imagine a repeated two-state temporal pattern with smooth transitions, like a circular representation.

How do you represent this temporal pattern using Mapper? There's a "sweet spot" where Mapper resolution and gain align—a band that scales both together for optimal results!

Have you ever struggled to extract meaningful insights from reduced data (like PCA)? Are your PCs falling short of explaining non-linear patterns?

Enter the Mapper algorithm! 🛠️ A tool from topology that lets you "connect the dots" and uncover hidden structure in your data (perfect if non-linear).

I read GEB in my first year of undergrad, which made me go into machine learning in the early 2010s. Later, I realized that I should have dedicated more of my time to cognitive science and neuroscience than the decade I spent doing engineering and Deep Learning.

Great discussion at Jonathan Birch's launch of his new book: "The edge of sentience". It is already available online for free at www.edgeofsentience.com

I joined Twitter super late, sometime in 2013. Now I get a do-over w Bluesky as in the first 10% 🤩🤩

This book offers a great review of the history of mental illness and psychiatry in the US. It's written from the perspective of investigating David Rosenhan's original paper from 1973 : "on being sane in insane places". It's an especially fun read given the complexity of the topic
