Uncharted is an idea if you want open world but its less puzzle and more combat. If you REALLY want to go old school, Half Life 2 is currently free on steam!

I am not sure if replying in a thread works on Bluesky- you may have to click my reply to see the other replies :D

If you can handle the serious age of it, Portal and Portal 2 are musts for puzzle lovers, but not so open-world or pretty now. Less 3d Immersive, but if you *havent* played Baldurs Gate 3, I strongly recommend that although its point and click.

Fenyx (Switch), Dishonoured and Dishonoured 2, Prey, Control (all PC), and memes aside, Skyrim holds up surprisingly well for it's age. Witcher 3 is good too, but a bit dated now.

Right, I have consulted my oracles of gaming, sacrificed a goat and prayed to Oatley for wisdom (but not actually, ya know, messaged him) and in no particular order:

Noted, I will compile a list when I'm not at work! Platforms available? Switch and PC I'm assuming?

So what do you need a game to have? Are you looking to branch out in genre or similar experiences to the open world fantasy exploring you've been doing so far?

Oh I'm a massive fan boy *now* it just took five years longer to happen because I tried starting with mort and wyrd sisters!

Drama did it in yr9, English did it in Yr 10 and for gcse that year we had to do it. Then at sixth form I had to do it in theatre studies. All i wanted was to read something, anything else!

Macbeth is probably my issue. I was forced to study it for four years in school and was sick of it when I first tried Wyrd Sisters!

Finding your Pratchett is a goal in life for everyone.

I'm just a Vimes fan boy. I found going postal easier as a gateway book that led me to the guards and then out to Lancre afterwards.

Oh it is, 100% I love it... It's just not an easy first discworld!

I experienced some of his time at university. Mental picture not required... I have memories....

We both enjoy Pratchett in different ways. It's not bad, I just prefer other sets of characters more and find them more accessible. P is just a witch in gay clothing so connects more with them. Later books are just better written :P

If that's your first pratchett, don't! Start somewhere else! Early discworld is hard work. Better to start in the middle and then go back later once it makes sense! (Pratchett remains amazing I just took a long time to find him because of books like wyrd sisters putting me off!)

Further to this, I've never seen The Doctor as an object of desire, but Ncuti seems to flirt wirh the world effortlessly and I am enchanted.

With the trends I pick up from your blue sky feed I hesitate to quietly ask.... Anything...?

I've got smiley on the list as highly recommended. The very English scandal didn't work for me, I don't know the other two, thanks! I'll have a Google!

Okay some context: My two favourite films are 'The way he looks' from Brazil, and 'Shelter' from the US in '07. Loved a Beautiful Thing back in the 90s, both versions of QAF and the lgbt plot lines in the fosters. Couldn't get on with Elite and RTDs cucumber and it's a sin were too dark.

That's the problem. I'm a big fan so my list is extensive. Before streaming made it easy I raided the depths of the Internet so I've seen all the classics. And then I raided the streaming services. I may have already found everything worth finding :'(
