I have lived in one and love the city. But I know the quality of life (commute time, racism due to language issue) and cost of living make it too difficult in 2025. The only way I would voluntarily go back to office is if I have an opportunity to move out of India. So, kinda stuck in this situation.

From career growth perspective, in spite of strong communication skills, I believe I have taken a major hit in terms of growth. I could have grown much more and faster if I were in office. Now, even though I want to go back to office, I can't because that would mean cities like Pune, Bangalore, etc.

I've been working remotely since 10 years now. Overall, 15 years in industry. First remote role was easier because I had worked in office at same company for 2.5 years, and because I didn't have a kid. Second (current) remote role is difficult even after 13 months into this company!
