I try to talk like I know what I'm doing. Don't be fooled.
Well… Moto ain't promising 8 years of updates either, but they also aren't charging almost a thousand bucks! 😂

😑 😩
December 12, 2025 at 11:01 PM
The solution is obviously a clamp-on flash reprogrammer 🙃
December 12, 2025 at 10:56 PM
Whoops.

There's a Moto G Stylus waiting for me at home (I'm out of town) largely because I did not want to deal with /e/OS and the hardware markup. Really really hard to justify what, $900? for the Murena instead of under $300 Moto on sale) 😔
December 12, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Oof, hopefully they'll stand behind it and help with a replacement?

My frustration with Fairphone has been that the only way to officially get one here (through Murena) is extraordinarily more expensive than even the regular model sold in Europe. Or at least that was the case when I did my research

At the end of the day, I guess it just depends what models you want to run.

I haven't found a FOSS tool that does enough of what Resolve does to switch away, but I'm just happy not to be giving Adobe (trash) or Wondershare (trash-er) any money!

(Plus, the camera included a license. Perpetual too!)

The Resolve community's full of horror stories about AMD compatibility, if you're building a workstation.

For me, there's an "old" mobile-3080 notebook in my arsenal from the pre-NPU era, but what I *actively* use is AMD (desktop) and Intel with Arc iGPU (laptop).

I'm not a pro editor, though…

I do like the local translation models, though I can't tell if they're using my "AI PC" NPU silicon.

Some of the Firefox AI feature rollouts have had me digging around in about:config to hide them (I'm still mostly in the "hate it" camp tbh) but good for them focusing on local!

Yeah, I've given up on the idea that the Oprah approach* to NPUs will lead to any meaningful improvement in tools like DaVinci Resolve. Ya still want a GPU (preferably from team green 🤢), sadly.

The one use case I've seen is live captions for *all* PC audio. 🤷‍♂️

Well now that "everyone" has "AI PCs" with "NPU" hardware… FOSS can step up and build the same thing, all-local and cross-platform, right?

W10 EOL and Windows 11's strict requirements have to be good for *something* dangit, and I doubt it's gonna be getting people onto Linux. 😩

(Alexa, how much am I trolling rn?) 🙃
November 26, 2025 at 3:23 PM
This is *almost* the value proposition of Windows Recall, ironically. The only piece your request lacks is "built by an untrustworthy megacorporation" 😂
November 26, 2025 at 3:22 PM
What value will you encode into it?

Do you use EAN-13? Codabar? GS1-128? Codablock? Code 49? Datamatrix? QR?

So many choices!

As an individual user of OCI (one free AMD64 instance), can/should I do anything about this beyond changing passwords in IAM for the Default and IDCS domains?

At least this finally motivated me to sort out the two different identities in my password manager and set up 2FA for the one I didn't use.

It blows my mind 🤯 that you've been creating separate models for every cargo+trailer combo up to this point.

I just assumed that the system already combined trailer & cargo models dynamically. Managing thousands of possible combinations as separate models is nuts! 😮

No matter what, I'm glad to have a place to follow your stuff that isn't Zuckerland! [2/2]

Legion Go might be the largest "big name" handheld, but OneXPlayer and TJD among others made 10-inch-class units.

OneX's (their X1) was even Intel-powered.

To close the loop on this, support DID sort this out and get back to me via email today. Guess they're just swamped!

Don't want to add to the backlog by responding via email, but this is my thanks to @support.bsky.team for helping me out!
June 22, 2023 at 10:33 PM
That didn't work either. Disappointing to find that it's just as hard to get a support response here as it is to get a PR comment out of the birdsite 🙁
May 26, 2023 at 10:10 AM
No response here, no response to the email I sent to support@bsky[.]app

What do I do now? Ping @pfrazee.com directly?
