I mean at some point you can just point to..... Every single thing about Microsoft as counter evidence to that strategy.

Hmm, guess Altman knows who to put on his "panel" to declare agi when he next needs a get out of jail card with Microsoft.

I'm reminded of the Alan Partridge sketch "and these Chickens are scared! They don't know why they are so big!?"

Don't forget Altmans latest lines - AI is an amazing technology that's super useful because it can do everyone's jobs and also at the same time any job it takes wasn't useful anyway.

My first live GP - I don't know how I got so lucky but the first 3 F1 races my parents took me to were this, then Monaco 92 then Donington 93.

I'm gonna tell my boss this in my next review.

Not about reducing headcount

"Microsoft needs to reduce staff again to bump stock price due to lack of strategic performance (AI?)"
September 9, 2025 at 4:00 PM
Feel like Apple is the one that should swallow their pride on this - they are perfectly placed to go back to the Jobs mantra of "start with the customer experience and work back to the tech" and announce they'll not obsess over AI but instead just introduce bits of it as and when it becomes useful.

Unfortunately with your software os basically being Google apple you have no options.... Except Huawei, which has it's own implications.

It's tough, and I hate the lack of options to be honest.

Hi rake design concept there.

Way too much to list in 1 reply but includes:

Pattern recognition/testing at scale/analysis

Some coding (+other rules based work eg acc entry)

Crossmodal input/output (eg text to audio/visual)

Software support

Whats less clear is cost/true market rate (Providers not currently profitable)

I've not said AI isn't useful, you are just proving my point on both the pointlessness of arguing and the issue of breathless cheerleading - by demanding people agree with every positive hype pump like Casey (and seemingly you) are, or claiming we're saying it's useless.

Like I said, a religion.
August 11, 2025 at 10:52 PM
..meant to question and critique these things, not breathelssly cheerlead them.

I'm not even anti AI or someone who thinks it won't ever get there - I'm just disappointed that the emperor is at best half dressed on this and some of those id expect to say so instead deny it.

Sadly I don't see the point arguing whether the definition of agents in that... letter of worship / rant at anyone who dares question the new god... Is the same definition as the promised agents of a year ago.

It really is a religion, and
I'm struggling with the fact that I thought journalism was..
August 11, 2025 at 10:16 PM
For example - Agents. I'd love for someone to actually evidence them existing, in the terms that described an agent a year ago, as opposed to just being a software script with a bit of llm sprinkled on top.
August 11, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Honestly I don't think these are a win for you guys, and I say that as a generally happy subscriber. Casey is so incredibly emotionally all in on AI that he's quite simply not any kind of journalist on the topic.
August 11, 2025 at 8:38 PM
Do Agents even actually exist?
August 9, 2025 at 8:16 PM
My worry is the senior mgt at many of three places are *so* useless they aren't even capable of knowing or seeing when AI proves incapable and will plow on regardless.

One of the hills I will die on is - being early is at least as disrespectful as being late.

One disrespects someone's time and leaves them to their own devices but at least doesn't take someone's time that they hadn't offered.

The other takes up someones time without permission.
August 1, 2025 at 1:58 PM
It's exactly as disrespectful as being early.

Images 1 and 3 have me so confused about everyone's height 😂

How do you like the lens? I read some not great reviews but as a strict amateur the images always look great when I see them!?
