What's all this then?
They're so quiet when pecking I can barely hear them destroying my siding to make nesting spots in my walls.

I remember an outline of what has to be their old system by now, and an important first step was a highly optimized chunk of code that read the stream of data out and marked 90% of it as not relevant, because it was known things, and needed to be pared so the remainder could be processed.

Tesla designer? What does this guy do all day? Talk about your bullshit jobs.

The range for your Honda is 602 miles in city, 504 miles highway. Hybrids don't hybrid much on the highway.

Good news, now you just need an EV with 500 miles range.

But EV's can't really quickly charge past 80%, so you'd probably need that theoretical 600 to get the 500.

I can't blame people for their new hobby of "let's fuck with Trump and his followers with relentless ridiculousness".

It's just expressing concern, not like taking an AR to terrorize a pizza place.

Also, silly stuff like this sticks, and they hate that. Let them fend off vapor for a while.

Requires neutered pet congress and calvinball court to abdicate the responsibility to their constitutional duties.

I'm just shit posting for mild entertainment on a casual evening.
Also, if he does shuffle, it would make "The Death of Stalin" look like "My Dinner With Andre".
Probably less ad-hoc executions of Majors, I would hope.

How long has he been unavailable?
Has Fox News programming converted to just classical music?

Lol, yeah. Ok, seriously, how long has he been hidden from public view?

Let's all agree that Truman being the only person to authorize the use of any nuclear weapon was an improvement over the situation after Nagasaki when the one person with possession and authority was Curtis Lemay, and his only concern was the schedule of the next bombs shipped to him.

He has to be the bride at every funeral, and the corpse at every wedding.

That's how my grandmother said it, and I'm sticking with her way, because it's funnier.

That woman looks like she's reconsidering her idiot boyfriend's alpaca farm scheme.

So what did you mean when you said "turbines, not generators?", cause it seems like the turbines are generators?
July 10, 2025 at 12:05 AM
And the turbines are used to.... ?

It was an interesting enough of an effort to merit real consideration. Basically, it never felt like it was wasting my time with stuff that was anything other than powder, shot, the ram and the fuse.

I thought this looked great, had a created world that felt like quality modern genre, and the cast worked their parts well. My impression was reaction ran from "meh" to "failed, for reasons", which befuddled me.

Or "we're going to do something about these barbarians, but first let's discuss all the potential consequences of doing something about these barbarians".

Just insult someone by telling the truth about them, see if that feels good, for starters. Go back to calling them weird, that was working.

Don't say you're going to paint them as cruel and unjust, bellow that they are cruel and unjust, and liars and criminals, and say it again when they respond.

Seeing supposedly pro politicians barf up some internal doc's bullet points, beaming like a Gomer, believing they've been clever, on some hack TV show, was rank incompetence 20 years ago. What are they proud of in that moment? Who are they talking to?
May 27, 2025 at 2:39 PM
Watching someone think they are deploying their strategy by saying "this is our strategy we intend to deploy" does not inspire confidence that the speaker understands the meaning of strategy or deploy.

Similar to "cars that go boom" and "this Harley needs a louder exhaust" are both confessions of feelings of powerlessness made audible as expressions of "you can't ignore me!".
May 26, 2025 at 5:27 PM
It's not illegal to build nuclear plants in the US, it's just really expensive. Think safety regulations make costs too high, and they should be removed? OK, buy insurance for your plants from private insurers, without the limit on damages enjoyed under federal law. Any guesses what that might cost?

If in good faith, possibly apocryphal FDR paraphrase "I agree with your policy desires, now make me have to do it.", meaning rouse public support.

If just "Americans are conservative, period, an incontrovertible fact, so surrender, Dorothy!", then puffery, as spouted on talk radio ad nauseum.
