3/4: …The Harrier is much larger with a wingspan almost twice that of a Sharp-shinned Hawk. Parks staff reported seeing the Harrier eating a tern. Other raptors regularly seen on Sable Island are three falcons, Peregrine, Merlin, and Kestrel.

2/4: … White-throated Sparrows presently on the island. These sparrows don’t nest on Sable, but commonly turn up during their spring and fall migrations. Another hawk – a Northern Harrier – was on the island at the same time, sweeping low over the dunes in characteristic coursing flight….
