One example from our lab of how basic science leads to new discoveries. In this case, in engineering. We can't kill basic science like this! It is spurning new Tesla Valve research!

An old one, but it still hits in my field: 🧪

This is how I feel about McConnell's "no" vote on Hegseth: It is absolutely meaningless because we are all here at this point BECAUSE of McConnell.

That there is part of the amino acid alignment of carboxyl ester lipase in the Monkeyface Prickleback. Notice anything? 🧪🤣

Apparently, I was BSky user #359,952. Had they not done that invitation only thing, it would have grown faster and been the place to be over Threads. Maybe it can still do it.

The hooding ceremony is one of the coolest things we get to do. Dr. Karina Brocco French and soon to be Dr. Matea Djokic received their hoods on Saturday. So proud and happy for them!!

I am Donovan. I am a prof at UC Irvine. We study critters and their guts (and microbes!) to understand how animals make a living eating different things. We are interested in improving aquaculture. Our Nutritional Physiology lab is in southern California!

I wasn’t at the Southwest Organismal Biology meeting yesterday, but doctoral candidate Nefertiti Smith Christman was! Sounds like she delivered a great talk.

The collection site looks like this at low tide. Flip some rocks! Loads of cool fishies.

A few things in this photo from out in the field. I am a nutritional physiologist who works on fish, especially those that live in the intertidal zone, like this rock prickleback, which is herbivorous. Although this pic is from Santa Cruz, CA, I am obviously a big Gators fan. Repping both coasts!
