Here in Japan, crows are a pain in the arse. They’re very smart but also very aggressive. Leave your golf cart unattended and they’ll unzip pockets to steal your granola bar. They also crowd out other birds and squirrels by eating the new-borns right out of their nests.

Because everyone suffers from imposter syndrome. In HS it was the same 2-3 kids who cleaned up on all the scholarships. So students think it’s a waste of effort when they won’t get it anyway. State that the award will go to a randomly selected applicant in the top 50% of all apps.
