Because 300 characters is not an ideal way to communicate lengthy research outcomes or fully communicate the inequitable harms caused or compounded by “proptech” in the rental market, I figured I’d share a link to an event next month that allows for more exploration of an important topic.

Because 300 characters is not an ideal way to communicate lengthy research outcomes or fully communicate the inequitable harms caused or compounded by “proptech” in the rental market, I figured I’d share a link to an event next month that allows for more exploration of an important topic.
AI models are trained on datasets that are often flawed, making it likely the models will exacerbate and compound existing biases. While oversight can mitigate some negative impacts of bad data in most contexts, we found landlords often rely on screening recommendations without additional scrutiny.

My work currently focuses on the use and impacts of algorithms to screen rental housing applicants, as well as the impacts of price-fixing in the rental housing market. If anyone who sees this is interested in those topics, we recently released a report on how tenant screening software is used.
