Combined cycle gas is most thermally efficient (60-64%), solar/wind are cheapest to build and operate ($24-96/MWh vs $39-101/MWh for gas). Renewables win on cost despite lower conversion efficiency b/c fuel is free. Future grids will prioritize cost-efficient renewables with storage.
