I love books. I write about them, I edit them, I even wrote a dissertation once! I review children's books over here: https://childrensbookroom.wordpress.com/

Also find the Children's Bookroom Instagram account: @childrensbookroom over there.
Happy Maurice Ravel's 150th birthday! To celebrate, I'm listening to "Pavane pour une infante défunte" played by the Basque National Orchestra, the music played at Proust's funeral, because how else do you celebrate someone's birthday?

OK I dunno how you feel about kids vs cats so story of kid, picture of cats in hats. My 3yo picked up a plumbing tool and said, "This is to open ALL the faucets and the water will go OUT, and then the fire trucks will all come and the fire fighters will come and say, 'Oh! What a pretty red house!'"

I was reorganizing books and Telemachos was just so happy I opened up a shelf for him to shelve himself on. He is less pleased that I have now shelved books there.

Today I learned that Maria Callas started her career as a Wagnerian and you could have knocked me over with a feather.

Maybe I'll single out one of these books a day for the next bit, what do we think? childrensbookroom.wordpress.com/2023/11/30/g...
If you have a smaller person in your life and are trying to figure out a good gift, you can't do much better than this ever so fun to read together lap book.

Scavenger hunt at my library! The lovely librarian asked my three year old about his favourite bears when we brought the finished form in for a sticker. He thought very carefully and said, "I like Chu." I like Chu, too. Isn't this a list of really good bears, though? @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com

Dear @bcdreyer.bsky.social , I thought of you yesterday--and sent this picture to my Spelling Bee pals. We were all foaming at the mouth. I know you stopped playing it, but we found comfort in your text at a time of great turmoil.

I'll be thinking about this over Shabbat.

You know, I'm pretty sure the ultimate fungi experience would involve something like "amanita" and I'm not sure I'd look forward to that, speaking for myself. But I don't know how @bcdreyer.bsky.social feels about fungi.

Look for those who lead with unselfishness, compassion, and courage. This is a good and holy man.

At the other place, I never really posted either about my Judaism or regarding Israel and Palestine. I'm all orthodox Jew, I have family in Israel. I'm very leftist. I support a two state solution and believe in hearing lots of voices. This is one, from a Jew far to the left of me.

I was using talk to text to tell my cousin about my cat. I said "Castor sat" and talk to text rendered it "Castercept." Behold Castor.
