The Team is a voluntary organisation, available 24/7 365 days a year, to help hillgoers in need as well as aiding the wider community. Currently DFMRT has around 35 active members. We are based in Broughton in Furness.

Today some of our team members were in County Durham assisting with the ongoing search for Jenny Hall, now in it’s fourth day. Mobile 3 was used as a control vehicle for LDSAMRA specialist drone teams who used bespoke automated searching software.

Another great training session up the Duddon valley last night. Practicing complicated extraction of a casualty from a local crag.

This weekend team members took the opportunity to get out and train on some core skills in the snowy hills of Glencoe. It was really valuable to practice using the stretcher on steep ground and treating casualties efficiently in true winter conditions.

2024 Round Up…
The team's volunteers have had over 50 call outs this year, ranging from relatively quick, local, low-level, incidents to prolonged, high mountain and multi-agency ones.

This weekend we joined an informal meet up for women in Mountain Rescue across the Lake District. Great to meet lots of impressive volunteers and to see the number of women in rescue growing.
