I wrote this short poem when I heard that monarchs are now an endangered species on the news:
Monarch in flight, your flaming wings vibrant.
Searching for milkweed, life of a migrant.
Decline in habitat, your meadows are blighted.
Again humans to blame, so damn short-sighted.
