USC just isn't as good as Oregon.

And USC's defense remains a problem. D'Anton Lynn's job shouldn't be in jeopardy, but if he gets other options, he should jump. The statute of limitations on "Better than Alex Grinch" being acceptable enough lasts a maximum of two seasons. #FightOn

I love Makai Lemon, but running him left and then right on consecutive plays was STUPID and kinda baffling playcalling by Lincoln Riley, leading to a DOINK.

That's it, I'm afraid. #FightOn

USC's got 1:52 to score a TD before the half or this game is over, since Oregon starts the 2nd half with the ball and USC can NOT stop Oregon on defense. #FightOn

Dumb penalties and porous big play defense are killing USC.

Which is to say "business as usual."

<"Arrested Development" narrator voice>

They could not.
Encouraging start for the Trojans, but this game hinges on the defense stopping Oregon, not the other way around... #FightOn

Lots of the enthusiasm for USC next season was under the assumption Maiava would stick around as a Heisman frontrunner and the two top receivers would go pro, but I just saw my first mock draft with Maiava in the first two rounds, which would presumably be enough to get him to leave.

This feels like the biggest game of the Lincoln Riley administration.

Beat Oregon and I promise no #FireLincoln posts until next fall. (Unless they win today and somehow lose to UCLA, in which case #FireLincoln.)
November 22, 2025 at 8:30 PM
Huh. NEVER seen Lincoln Riley that pumped. No clue where THAT came from.

Good win for USC and definitely not the sort of win they would have gotten last year. Both offensive and defensive adjustments and... it worked.

VERY curious to see what happens with several of this week's injuries. #FightOn

Makai Lemon is so so so good. #FightOn

Everybody who wrote a "USC controls its own destiny for the Playoff" story in the past two weeks is going to deserve what I fear is about to happen to USC.

Hope I'm wrong, but Iowa teams are always well-coached and Lincoln Riley teams reliably lose to well-coached teams.

This game may be the best that Lincoln Riley's offense has looked in... Years? Or at least the best it has looked against a *semi*-legitimate team in years?
November 8, 2025 at 4:53 AM
That was as stupid and pointless a run of end-of-half play calls as I've ever seen. Well done, Northwestern.

That was a tremendously methodical game-opening drive. Shabbat Shalom and #FightOn.

Somehow, switching over from the World Series, I feel like I caught almost every important play in the USC game.

Not a great win, especially barely holding off a team playing with an unimpressive second-string QB, but a good in-conference road win.

How many college coaches who have been fired in the past month would I rather have coaching USC than Lincoln Riley? Several!

The best part of the World Series going to Game 7: I'll mostly watch baseball instead of the USC game.

But might as well enjoy the first quarter...

The only people on the field more inept than Lincoln Riley are these refs. #FightOn

Horrible offensive playcalling.

Weak, unfocused offensive execution.

Dismal defensive game plan.

Inconsistent defensive execution.

Easy recipe for a loss for USC

Is... nobody in the booth gonna tell the announcer to STOP calling Ja'Kobi Lane, "Ja'Kobi Dean"?

Last year, my favorite USC player was the punter.

This year, it's the placekicker.

Strange times.

I know the refs sometimes make a benefit-of-the-doubt call with the reassurance that it can be hastily overturned, but the officials on-field calling that an interception are morons.

And the fact that it's taking more than three seconds to overturn the call is even more moronic.

Woooooow. Astonishingly dumb interception by Carr. Of course, Maiava made the identical interception last week and he's a junior. #FightOn

Intriguing that USC's defense appears to have watched no tape on the Notre Dame offense. They seem not to have ever seen Jeremiah Love before, which is peculiar. #FightOn

A good, solid win for USC, if only because of how reliably they've choked away games like this over the past two years.

The defense was especially stout in the second half.
