I sadly need to have win11 on my main desktop due to drivers 🫠. My old one managed to escape and is living happily with Kubuntu.

For any non-steam games though like say anything from Epic or GoG, needs to use Wine (GE also has a version which seems to run well).

I actually did that last month! Installed Kubuntu 24.04 on my desktop (since win10 is going out of support in Oct). Steam games run perfectly using GE-Proton. Just enable cache shading in the background, otherwise you might end up waiting like an hour for the Vulkan shaders to cache.

It might take time but also a regular schedule goes a long way. For me, I miss a lot of streams because I'm not always checking bluesky or twitch so something like a discord community server notification could also help.
