On the tenth-anniversary release of The White Stripe’s fourth album, “Elephant,” Meg White’s dress has been switched from white to black—literally no longer a white stripe on the album cover.

Artist David Gambale, aka World B. Omes, created the airplane illustration for the cover of The Beastie Boys’ debut album, “Licensed To Ill” with water-soluble crayons. Interestingly, the plane’s tail number (“3MTA3”) reads “EATME” when looked at in reverse.

The cover of The National’s fifth studio album, “High Violet” (2010), is a photograph of a sculpture entitled “Untitled (Binding Force),” made by American installation artist Mark Fox (who is also Matt Berninger’s second cousin).

In 1969, Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger first asked artist M.C. Escher to design a cover for the album "Let It Bleed," but Escher declined, so Keith Richards hired Robert Brownjohn, a close friend, to design the cover.

For the cover of Oasis' debut, "Definitely Maybe," Noel Gallagher drew inspiration from the back cover of the 60s Beatles compilation, “A Collection of Beatles Oldies”, where the Fab Four are hanging around a Japanese hotel room.

The Strokes' sixth album, "The New Abnormal" (2020), features a cropped version of the 1981 Jean-Michel Basquiat painting, "Bird on Money" for the cover art. The album's title was inspired by a quote from former CA governor Jerry Brown amid the 2018 wildfires.
