Arguments against #metoo & cancelling didnt acknowledge that women get precanceled. Powerful men lose jobs! Women though? Don't even get to start them. Reject someone & generally speaking, your edu./career advancement can be over & it's not based at all on merit. Best defense? Playing stupid.

I'm still waiting for the 10 headlines a day (including all the OpEd writers flooding the zone) covering one Trump problem. Dementia, self-dealing, Epstein? But nope, just a smattering here and there and then on to the next thing.

Is Summers saying that bc she declined a drink he's going to not mentor her?
A lot of women go thru this in school/work--the delicate balance of not offending powerful allies while turning down their advances.
She probably saw his intentions & in trying not to offend, he got offended anyway

And I bet he thought women are too stupid at math to get the 'joke.'
November 16, 2025 at 12:47 AM
And look at this a-hole Joscha Bach (cognitive scientist). I think Summers has said similar things about women not doing well in math and science because they choose to prefer approval and not puzzles.
And the race discussion here. 👀

I'm sure he's a Bell Curve/Charles Murray fan too. They all are. It cooked the brains of a lot of Gen X college students. I'd make a Venn diagram of the racists/misogynists and Bell Curve lovers, but why bother drawing a circle.

Illiberalism! Must be nice to have a soft landing at The Economist.
November 14, 2025 at 10:16 PM
I know! It feels abusive. I admit I am a hate-reader, but I just can't anymore. The NYT & The Atlantic just do this all the time now. It's not even some hypothetical thought experiment nonsense with no stakes. This admin is disappearing & starving people. I have no time for "Well actually" takes

I'm trying to figure out why so-called (or self-professed) centrists often code as contrarians.
I think it's because these ostensibly 'liberal' outlets are hiring a lot of right-of-center pundits/writers and we're hostages to this weird form of neutrality.
Who agrees with these writers?

Remember all those reporters (dudes) that came rushing to the defense of Olivia Nuzzi after the whole Vox-like* thing she had with RFKJr? It feels like that.

*Vox the Clinton-era phone-sex book, not the Ezra Klein website.

Like all NYT opinion writers, that bit was said with SUCH confidence that for a second I was convinced it was a good reason. And then I came to my senses.
Using her employment at an elite institution as reason to believe she'd be the first to criticize them.

And Ivy League/elite colleges and CRT/DEI and the Middle East/Israel--which is why they frothed when covering Mamdani's college application (they hit the trifecta w/that BS story).
NYT refuses to admit it has an editorial agenda.

The ever predictable New York Times
November 13, 2025 at 5:29 PM
"That's just how the sausage is made at the news factory," seems to be a crazy excuse.

That's what Fox was operating these past years, a shadow government. Everyone treats them like the media, but they're operating as a shadow government and why Trump pulled his cabinet from there.

The NYT is institutionally sexist. Only male members of the Sulzberger-Ochs family even bother to try to be publisher of the NYT.

But he likes to put a positive spin on things! He's an optimist! Like Emily Oster and the 'you should assess your own risk' crowd. It'll all be okay--if you have enough money and access to information.

And Sheryl Sandberg (Larry Summers was her mentor, thesis advisor, and boss at the World Bank) telling women to do more, to lean in. Then she was the 'adult' at Facebook with the Tech Broligarchy (Zuckerberg).

I think it's his delivery. If he was a more bombastic the moves would look a bit different.

This is the convo I just had w/my husband. Timing is everything. Do we have people starve for a year before the midterms? Rioting in the streets b/c people are hungry? The middle class wld eventually get scared (the poors are stealing!) & want more law & order. The past elections were the goal.

Also, they are using the methods of trying to get pregnant (basal body temperature charting, urine testing for hormones, cervical mucous) for avoiding pregnancy? You're supposed to do that every day of your reproductive life in order to not get pregnant?

Was it me or was it never noted what exactly Samantha Kopy's experience/credentials are?
It wasn't. She's an RN. She also has a certificate from Marquette and their NFP program (it's religious based) www.marquette.edu/nursing/inst...
